1. Strategic direction/ business plan alignment
STEM skills are now recognised as a vital requirement for pre-paring the next generation for the ever changing world. The need for creative thinking, problem solving, and team work skills whilst understanding and incorporating the digital word around us is an important focus at Belmay. STEM Club offers an extra challenge for those students who show a particular interest in this field.
2. Program rationale and outline
STEM Club is an eight-week, after school, intensive course run by Scitech. It is run for groups of 15-20 years 4-6 students. The aim of S.T.E.M Club is to provide a safe and supportive environment where students can work collaboratively, and feel comfortable in making mistakes as they test, trouble, shoot and refine various coding designs. Scitech were so impressed with the students at Belmay that they have offered to run the program here again next year!
