In Western Australia, children can start their education in Kindergarten, however compulsory schooling starts the following year in Pre-primary.
Every child from Pre-primary to Year 12 is guaranteed a place at their local public school. Places in Kindergarten are limited, so we encourage you to apply early. Wherever possible this place will be at your local-intake school. Some schools may get more applications than they have places.

Enrolment is a two-step process.
- Submit an Application for Enrolment form (available from the school or download it below). It is helpful at this stage to support your application with documents showing proof of residence, proof of identity and vaccination status.
- If the application is accepted then you will be asked to complete an Enrolment form and a Student Health Care Summary, with supporting documentation.
To apply for Kindergarten, both the Application for Enrolment form and the Kindergarten Additional Information form will need to be completed and returned. You will also need to provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement that is ‘up to date’ and not more than two months old before we can proceed to enrolment.
Applications for Kindergarten 2023 close Friday 22 July 2022.
Applications made after this date will be considered on a case by case basis, in accordance with the Department of Education’s Enrolment Policy which can be found at http://www.det.wa.edu.au/policies.
